Kelyn's inspiration comes from the world around her, much like her brother Jago. The central legend in their debut album is Eliza the wood witch, who is said to haunt Kilminorth Woods near Looe, Cornwall.
Opening track, Eliza of Bark and Bone:
"A deep exploration of the central legend; the 'spirit' of Kilminorth Woods. The Wychwood tree waits, by the old creek. A shrine for those in need of help, who's prayers have been ignored. A legend disturbed. The creek tree happily listens to your prayers, your wishes, your curses, but who's spirit lingers at the Wychwood Tree?" - Kelyn
"What inspired our album? Looe and Polperro in Cornwall, the life here and the landcsape. But also, for me, it's always gonna be the sea! Looe Banjo meets Tide is my shanty for my home town." - Jago
Spirit of Kilminorth explores the landscape and sights of Looe, with many references throughout the songs to local landmarks. The bridge, Guild Hall, Banjo Pier, medieval backstreets all feature on the debut album, Spirit of Kilminorth.
“I’m particularly fond of the woods” says Kelyn, “They called to me at a young age, I spent many hours in those woods and never felt alone”.
“Spirit of Kilminorth is a musical exploration of the life and death of Eliza Trewithian, the so-called ‘wood witch’ of Kilminorth woods” continues Jago, “It’s a place that’s seen some troubled times, that’s for sure. So, we kind of wanted to bring those stories to life, you know, give them a revaluation”.
